Origins.

I’d been in Pego in Spain a few years before this bloke turns up at my local bar, Balbino’s. We got talking, as you do, and we got on really well. Anyway, Pete, decided to move to Pego. To cut a long story short, on one occasion I was talking about building an amp from components I already had,  something I wouldn’t have a clue how to start really. It turns out this Pete bloke is an engineering and electronics expert! Like, top of the tree level. One thing led to another and we decided to design and build a ‘proper’ amp from scratch, the only criteria for which was it had to be the best amp in the world!

Pete couldn’t see much point in doing something average or fairly good, and I thought, ‘fair enough’! Not only does Pete have the knowledge and ability to make it happen, he also has boundless enthusiasm for it, so that’s what we’re doing! He’s come up with something pretty  special which has some truly unique features, and that’s a big deal with the number of good makers we’re up against. Our ethos from day one was to have everything made and sourced here in Pego, using local businesses, obviously we’d have been even luckier to find all the  components and valves made here, but as far as possible we keep everything local.

And as if to continue the streak of good fortune, at roughly the same time as we were talking about having a whole range of products under the brand, Pete suggested we should have our own custom made guitars as well! I’d not have even thought of that! Then it turns out a Luthier Alfons moved into town more or less the same week! And so Pegolino Audio was born!

As I mentioned earlier, that first meeting was at my local bar, BALBINO, so as it all stemmed from there it was obvious to me that the first guitar should have that name!
